Living Library
The Living Library Project, a collaborative initiative between OTGrow and Mending Broken Beauty (NPC), reimagines the traditional library experience to confront prejudice and discrimination through the power of human connection.
By creating a safe and transformative space for dialogue and storytelling, this groundbreaking project aims to foster healing and understanding in South Africa, one conversation at a time. Join us on this extraordinary journey as we bring people together and inspire a more compassionate and empathetic society.
Event Details
Concept
The Living Library is an immersive experience where visitors engage in meaningful conversations with “human books” – individuals representing diverse perspectives and experiences.
How it works
Visitors browse a catalogue of “human books” and select one to engage with. They participate in a facilitated conversation with the chosen “human book” for a designated time. After the exchange, visitors can “return” the human book and borrow another, fostering multiple connections and insights.
Objective
Create a safe space for individuals to ask questions, listen, and learn from others, promoting understanding, empathy, and deeper connections.
